Cool this. Dr. Ricks was Dr. Ricks as far back as 5th grade, the neighborhood go to for hip music tips. I got Oingo Boingo and Devo from him somewhere in there. Nice nod to Mrs. Shirtzinger! (Spelling?) HUGE shout out to Poston Jr. jazz band, Larry Baedke. Huge respect to that guy. Although yes, we played Billie Jean as I recall with all the Hal Leonard stuff. MASSIVE shout out to Grant Wolf. Local jazz deity there. He brought the legit. One class with that inspiring guy and I quit business school for music school. Best move ever. 5 minutes in Grant’s big band you’ll never wonder again where 2 and 4 are not to mention spending the rest of your life chasing and devouring this sound.
